Shocking incidents of animal cruelty are not unheard of. But the recent news of a pug being thrown to the ground by its owner is making dog lovers around the world furious. Benny, the black pug, was videotaped while its owner threw him to the ground on January 3, 2016. The video went viral on social media and received a lot of attention. The Fairfield, Calif. Police department came to know about the dog when the owner’s boyfriend brought Benny to be checked out by professionals. Thankfully, the dog was found to be unharmed.
After a thorough examination was carried out by a professional vet, it was determined that Benny did not receive any injuries from the fall and was in good health. The police later handed over the pug to the officials at Solano County Humane Animal Services. As of last Thursday, Benny is safe and sound. Since the dog was brought in by the owner’s boyfriend, the officials gave him custody of Benny.
Police have completed an investigation of the incident and will be sending the case to the Solano County District Attorney’s Office.Officers have been searching for the woman who threw the dog. Police on Monday said they thought she was in Vallejo but now they think she has left Solano County.
Fairfield resident Brandi Chin allegedly threw the dog during a dispute with her boyfriend, an officer with Humane Animal Services said.The video that captured Chin throwing the pug was taken on Dec. 19. The video shows the dog hitting the ground and rolling several times, Humane Animal Services Officer Francisco Piedra said.
